Museo di Salò, Civica Raccolta del Disegno
The Civica Raccolta del Disegno of Salò was born in 1983 from the idea of Giuseppe Mongiello, at that time Councilor for Culture, the artist Attilio Forgioli and the art critic Flaminio Gualdoni, with the initial contribution of some private supporters. The first nucleus of the collection is indeed made of donations of the works acquired by these supporters, progressively increased by donations from artists and purchases. In the 1980s and 1990s, the collection, in addition to periodic acquisitions exhibitions, held personal exhibitions of artists and promoted conferences on contemporary Italian art. In the following years, a significant selection of the works from the collection was exhibited at the Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Gazzoldo degli Ippoliti (MN), at the Museum Gallery of Modern Art of Klatovy (Czech Republic), with which it was created a cultural exchange, at the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea of Lissone (MI), at the Museo della Permanente of Milan, at the Casa degli Artisti of Tenno (TN), at the Galleria d'Arte Civitanova Marche (MC), at Palazzo Martinengo in Brescia. The institution, which has reached a permanent nature, following the agreement for its management, stipulated with the Province of Brescia in 1989, has a deposit, an archive and an exhibition section at the Museo di Salò. Its task is that of establishing a public collection fund and promoting its study and use. The collection today consists of about 800 works, mainly on paper, by artists of the twentieth century, with particular interest in Italian art from the Second World War until today (Lucio Fontana, Osvaldo Licini, Mario Sironi, Atnasio Soldati, Piero Dorazio, Angelo Accardi, Antonio Sanfilippo, Renato Birolli, Ennio Morlotti, Emilio Vedova, Pompilio Mandelli, Afro, Attilio Forgioli, Alik Cavaliere and Antonio Stagnoli). The Executive Board is composed of members appointed by the Municipality and the Province of Brescia, in addition to the Mayor of Salò, who chairs it, and a curator. In the last role of curator have been Flaminio Gualdoni and Walter Guadagnini, for a period with the collaboration of Albano Morandi, Flavio Arensi, Marcello Riccioni, and Anna Lisa Ghirardi.
