Museo della Grafica, Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe dell'Università di Pisa

Pisa

The Museo della Grafica hosts the collections of the Gabinetto disegni e stampe dell’Università di Pisa and it was born in 1957 at the initiative of Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti (1910-1987). It can be divided into four fondi. The first is the Fondo Timpanaro which counts the 1,000 works collected over the years by the scientist Sebastiano Timpanaro. This Fondo was donated in 1957 by the widow Maria Timpanaro Cardini and her son. Relevant are the etchings of Giovanni Fattori and the prints of Giorgio Morandi and Luigi Bartolini. The second fondo is the Fondo Doni degli Artisti and it was created starting from 1958, following the call of Ragghianti himself. Noteworthy are the works of the futurist architect Mario Chiattone. The third fondo, Fondo Argan, counts over 600 sheets documenting the friendships and relationships of the art historian Giulio Carlo Argan. Lastly, the Fondo Deposito Perpetuo della Calcografia Nazionale hosts a series of prints of different kinds.
