The most important institution for the graphic arts in Italy, the Istituto Centrale per la Grafica hosts numerous drawings, prints, and matrices. The vast majority of prints and drawings (respectively almost 11,4000 and circa 25,000) comes from the old Gabinetto Nazionale delle Stampe. In addition to it, there are prints and drawings (circa 45,000 and almost 2,800) coming from the old Calcografia Nazionale. The collection of matrices counts circa 24,000 works and it is the most important of this kind in the world. The library owns more than 28,000 volumes.
