Galleria Regionale della Sicilia di Palazzo Abatellis, Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe
The Gabinetto disegni e stampe is mainly made up of works coming from the old Museo Nazionale di Palermo. It is located in the Torre Nord of Palazzo Abatellis and it is the most important Sicilian graphic collection. Among the drawings are noteworthy those by Pontormo, Baccio Bandinelli, Polidoro da Caravaggio, Perin del Vaga, Giulio Clovio, Guido Reni, Pietro Novelli, Andrea Sacchi, Corrado Giaquinto and Paolo De Matteis. The Gabinetto counts circa 4,200 figure drawings, excluding the decorative drawings and the architecture ones (among which are relevant those by the architect Giacomo Amato), and more than 11,000 prints. Important are the volumes coming from the Museo dell'Abbazia di San Martino delle Scale (among which the Libro dei Panduri with drawings by Domenico Maria Fratta); the volumes of the Prince Gabriele Lancillotto Castelli (with an important nucleus of Genoese drawings); the prints and drawings donated by the Prince Giuseppe Emanuele Ventimiglia of Belmonte (263 prints, the prints by Giovanni Volpato after Raphael, 59 drawings by Pietro Novelli and other 495 various drawings); the collection of over 1,000 prints of Gerolamo Valenza; and that of more than 2,000 stampe, belonged to the Cardinal Gaspare Grassellini. Another important addition is the graphic collection of over 1,300 sheets of Pietro Sgadari di Lo Monaco.
