Biblioteca Comunale degli Intronati, Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe
The Gabinetto dei disegni e delle stampe owns circa 10,000 drawings and 28,000 prints. The creation of this collection is largely due to the passion of the Abbot Giuseppe Ciaccheri (1724-1804), who wanted to document the local school by collecting various drawings of the artists active in Siena, such as Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Giuliano da Sangallo, Domenico Beccafumi, il Sodoma, Baldassarre Peruzzi, Alessandro Casolani, Francesco Vanni, Rutilio Manetti, Bernardino Mei, the Mazzuoli, and the Nasini. With regard to the prints, Ciaccheri gathered works of printmakers such as the Florimi, Orazio Brunetti, and Bernardino Capitelli, who also documented the work of these local artists. The collection of prints was enriched by the bequest of Augusto Gori Pannilini (1822-1877) in 1877, mostly including Italian and foreign prints. Another important collection that the library received in 1885 was that of Giuseppe Porri (1798-1885).
