Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe
The Gabinetto dei disegni e delle stampe (with adjoining chalcoteque), is located on the ground floor of Palazzo Fernandez, home to the Accademia di Belle Arti, in an environment with furnishings designed by the architect Ernesto Basile. It includes drawings, mosaic cartoons, prints, matrices and volumes belonging to various authors: artists, masters, emeritus students who had a dialogue with the Accademia. Today, the Gabinetto is also configured as an active educational laboratory. The graphic works are in total about 500. Among the most valuable 7 drawings with studies by Pietro De Francisco (datable to 1898); a charcoal drawing by Luigi Di Giovanni (datable to 1890); two sepia pastels with nude studies by Archimede Campini (datable to 1908); a pastel on paper with musician by Onofrio Tomaselli (datable to 1890); prints ranging from Giambattista Piranesi to Antonio Guarino, Pippo Rizzo, Alfonso Amorelli, Alba Rizzo, Pippo Spinoccia, Gianbecchina, Gino Morici and Lina Gorgone and many other protagonists of the twentieth century such as Mino Maccari, Emilio Greco, Ugo Attardi and Pippo Gambino. The Gabinetto also houses a section dedicated to the restoration of the matrices which are around 50.
